According to a new leak, which was offered by a supply chain analyst via social network Weibo, Chinese smartphone maker Meizu plans to launch at least 10 smartphones planned for 2017.
According to the post on the Chinese network, most of these devices will be launched in the second half of the year and the company will focus efforts around the Helio P20 and P25 chipsets from MediaTek.
Among the new features we can expect for Meizu Pro 7, this being the main launch of the company for the second half of the year, coming with the most powerful hardware from Qualcomm or Samsung. The Pro 7 will also come with dual camera or dual sensor setup. Along with Pro 7, the rumor also mentions two other devices of the “Blue Note” and “X Series” lines, although the post does not go into detail on the other seven devices that will come this year.
One noteworthy point about this leak is that at least part of it seems to go against previous reports that the company has been working to create its own SoC. The previous rumor also stated that the Pro 7 could be the most likely device to receive this new chipset.
However, developing and manufacturing a new SoC from scratch is not really an easy task by any means, even when partnering with a legendary industry leader like Texas Instruments. In this way, the possibility of seeing Meizu continue to invest in MediaTek hardware is high, at least for now.
Meanwhile, renderings are emerging on the internet to illustrate the possible final design of the Meizu Pro 7, which should arrive with a 5.7-inch Full HD display, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, 64 to 128 GB of storage, 21 8 megapixels, 3,000 mAh battery and Android system modified by FlymeOS.
