2nd place: Skyline GT-R R32

Two cars tied for second place. The first was the Skyline GT-R R32. The base Skyline R32 was launched in May 1989, and the GT-R, which appeared three months later, became a hot topic as it was revived for the first time in 16 years.

Equipped with a 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine designed exclusively for the GT-R, it produced a maximum power of 280 horsepower, which was a first for a domestically produced car at the time. It also competed in the All-Japan Touring Car Championship from 1990 to 1993 and achieved excellent results.

Second place: Safari type 160

The Safari 160 was also selected for second place. A full-fledged off-road vehicle that went on sale in 1980. Adopting a strong ladder frame and leaf-type suspension, it was also useful in mountainous areas.

First place went to the “Skyline R30”. This is the sixth generation of the Skyline, which went on sale in 1981, and was nicknamed the “Newman Skyline” after actor Paul Newman, who appeared in the commercial.
