The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has released a special website for the Tsukuba Space Center's open day to be held on October 26 (Saturday). A special opening of the center is held each year, where visitors can tour normally inaccessible facilities and exhibits, and enjoy hands-on events. Please note that some events require advance registration, so early registration is recommended.

◆E area

Area E is closest to the entrance, and hosts tours where Dr. Rocket explains the actual H-II rocket, the symbol of the Tsukuba Space Center, as well as events where you can casually talk about space in sign language or written communication.

In particular, the “Central Control Room Tracking Tour”, which is held only on special opening days and monitors the satellite 365 days a year, is a must-see.

C area

Area C has the largest number of events and is recommended for people interested in manufacturing, including satellites. Experiments for inserting monitoring devices for the “GOSAT-GW” satellite, which will be launched on board the last H-IIA rocket in 2024, and a character (EarthCARE-chan) similar to the “EarthCARE” satellite that was launched in May 2024, and a project will be held to talk about it.

◆S area

Area S is full of events related to satellite research, development and testing, including exhibitions where you can see real small satellites developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency up close, and satellite assembly and testing sites open to the public.

The temporary exhibition room created in conjunction with the closure of the Space Dome exhibition hall at Tsukuba Space Center is also open to the public for this year only, and is a must-see as there are exhibits that can only be seen here.

◆ W area

Events related to manned space activities will be held in Area W, including a basic training report session for astronaut candidates and an exhibition on the new space station supply vehicle (HTV-X) scheduled for launch at the end of 2024.
